Larger 500 mg packs
Prices below are all for 500 mg. These examples are calculated from the listed prices at the shop’s Australian-dollar rate on 8 October 2026, before delivery or other checkout charges.
| Strength | Pack size | Pack price | Price per capsule |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 mg | 90 | A$201.11 | A$2.23 |

Keflex and Ibilex in Australia
Keflex is sponsored by Aspen Pharmacare Australia; its 250 mg and 500 mg capsules are listed on the ARTG, and the leaflet also covers an oral suspension. Ibilex is a further cefalexin brand.
Cautions
An allergy to cefalexin, to penicillin, to another cephalosporin or to an ingredient of the capsule is a reason not to take Keflex. Caution applies with kidney or liver disease, and pregnancy or breastfeeding should be discussed with the doctor. The leaflet names probenecid and metformin as interacting medicines.
Taking the capsules, side effects and storage
Capsules may be taken with or without food, at the prescribed dose and for the full course. Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness and thrush are among the commoner effects. A severe allergic reaction, severe bloody diarrhoea with fever, a seizure, jaundice or confusion needs urgent medical help, and persistent diarrhoea is linked to a risk of severe colitis. The leaflet gives storage below 25 °C for 250 mg and below 30 °C for 500 mg. Follow the storage directions on the pack you receive.
