In brief

Brilinta is a ticagrelor medicine for people who have had acute coronary syndrome. It lowers platelet clumping to help prevent a heart attack or unstable angina.

Brilinta following acute coronary syndrome

Brilinta’s consumer medicine information says ticagrelor reduces the clumping of platelets, which helps prevent dangerous clots, and is used to help prevent heart attacks and unstable angina in people who have had acute coronary syndrome.
This listing shows ticagrelor 60 mg and 90 mg. It does not name the manufacturer of the tablets supplied, so check the label on the pack you receive and confirm with your prescriber or pharmacist that it matches your prescription.

60 mg tablets: 28, 84 and 168

Compare packs of the same strength. These examples are for 60 mg and are calculated from the listed prices at the shop’s Australian-dollar rate on 8 October 2026, before delivery or other checkout charges.
Strength Pack size Pack price Price per tablet
60 mg 28 A$71.81 A$2.56
60 mg 84 A$170.94 A$2.03
60 mg 168 A$241.33 A$1.44
A 60 mg tablet comes in around 20.7% cheaper in the 84 pack and around 44.0% cheaper in the 168 pack than in the 28 pack.
A lower price per tablet means a larger upfront payment. Choose only the quantity and strength appropriate to your prescription, and check the expiry date. Prices can change, so confirm the current pack price before ordering.

AstraZeneca’s Australian Brilinta

In Australia Brilinta is sponsored by AstraZeneca, and its leaflet covers 90 mg tablets, both film-coated and orally dispersible. The 60 mg strength is not part of that leaflet.

When Brilinta is ruled out

Bleeding problems such as an ulcer bleeding in the stomach or bowel, severe liver disease, or a previous bleeding stroke exclude it. So does current treatment with ketoconazole, clarithromycin, nefazodone, ritonavir or atazanavir.

Bleeding, breathlessness and heart rhythm

  • The bleeding risk is higher, particularly with operations or dental work.
  • NSAIDs, some anticoagulants and SSRIs add to the bleeding risk.
  • Shortness of breath affects more than 10% of people.
  • The heartbeat may become slow or irregular.
  • Do not stop taking Brilinta without first talking to your doctor.

Dosing pattern and storage in the leaflet

For the 90 mg tablets, the leaflet describes regular doses at the same times each day, with or without food, as prescribed. It asks for storage in the original blister below 30 °C, away from heat and moisture. Follow the storage directions on the pack you receive.

Delivery across Australia
